Unlock your child’s maths potential

Personalised support for young learners who need an approach to learning maths that will help them feel calm, capable, and able to make good progress.

Why maths can feel like the trickiest subject

Maths is a difficult subject for many young learners, and it doesn't mean they lack maths ability. When a subject feels too fast, too abstract, or too pressured, a child can lose their confidence, and even small gaps in understanding can grow into bigger barriers, preventing them from making progress.

Unlike traditional tutoring we explore why maths feels challenging and provide strategies to address these feelings alongside teaching maths. This approach helps young learners feel calmer and more capable, allowing them to confidently progress on their maths journeys.

Maths support for learners who need a different approach

Our unique approach to maths support has been tested in school and college settings and has been shown to help young learners rebuild trust in themselves and make meaningful progress in maths.

Support that starts with the learner

Rather than making assumptions based on year groups and key stages we will meet your child where they are and build their maths knowledge and confidence from there.

Interactive teaching that makes sense

Sessions use interactive software, allowing for engaged, active learning. We use visual models to link ideas together, reducing confusion and building confidence.

The skills to unlock maths learning

Many children struggle with maths because anxiety, fear of mistakes, or negative past experiences get in the way. Our approach helps learners feel calmer, safer, and able to engage.

Frequently asked questions

My child is very anxious about maths. How will they be supported?

Our maths experts are all trained to work with highly anxious learners and have extensive experience supporting young learners who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or worried about getting things wrong. Confidence‑building tutoring is designed specifically for learners who need a calmer, more emotionally safe approach.

Sessions are low‑pressure, paced gently, and use clear explanations, visual models, and reassurance to help your child feel more settled and capable over time.

Previous tutoring hasn’t been effective. How will this be different?

Many learners come to tutoring not because they lack ability, but because the way they were taught in the past didn’t work for them. When those same learners go to a traditional tutor who teaches in a similar way to school, the experience can feel like more of the same. This scenario can unintentionally reinforce the very barriers they’re trying to overcome.

Research shows that some learners need someone who understands the emotional side of learning maths, not just the content. This is an approach we specialise in, and using evidence-informed strategies we can help all learners to make progress.

In our sessions we use clear visual models, step‑by‑step explanations, and teach strategies for dealing with anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. This approach will help your child stay engaged and understand the maths more deeply. Learners work at a pace that feels manageable, with plenty of time to ask questions, revisit tricky areas, and build secure foundations.

Sessions are calm, friendly, and designed to help your child feel more confident and in control of their learning.

Can maths really be learnt effectively online?

Yes, if online learning is designed following the principles of impactful teaching. Our online sessions are effective because:

  • Each session is fully interactive. Your child and their tutor work together on a shared online whiteboard where both can write, draw, annotate, and explore ideas visually.
  • All work is saved, so your child can revisit explanations later in their personalised maths workbook.
  • Homework is shared easily at the end of the session and learners can refer back to the session notes to help them complete the homework.
  • Session work and homework are easily accessible so parents can check progress at any time.

To access online sessions, learners will need a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet with a working microphone and camera. If using a desktop or laptop we strongly recommend your child gets a basic drawing tablet such as a Wacom tablet to help them interact more comfortably.

We are not able to run sessions from mobile phones as the screen is too small for effective, interactive learning.

What availability do you have and what time do sessions run?

We always try to accommodate your schedule. Sessions run during the day, after school and early evenings.

If a suitable space isn’t immediately available, we keep a waiting list. Please get in touch and we can discuss the best options for your child.
